Ever open the dishwasher only to be met with a surprise of a full load of dirty dishes when you expected sparkling clean ones? We've all been there. But fear not, fellow dish-duty warriors! Today, we're tackling kitchen chaos with a fun and easy DIY project: a laser-engraved "Clean/Dirty" dishwasher magnet.
This project is perfect for anyone with a Glowforge (or similar laser cutter) and a desire for a more organized kitchen. It's a great introduction to laser engraving and uses minimal materials, making it ideal for beginners!
Gather Your Supplies:
- Glowforge (or other laser cutter): This is your tool for creating the engraved design.
- Free "Clean/Dirty" Dishwasher Magnet SVG File: We'll provide some tips on finding this file in a moment.
- Material: Choose wood or acrylic (⅛" thickness is recommended + masking).
- Paint (optional): Want to add a pop of color? Feel free to use acrylic,chalk paint, or any other paint and or pens you prefer.
- Small magnet: Any light-weight or small magnet will do. (hint: magnets are commonly available on Amazon. Most already come with some type of adhesive!)
This cut file is compatible with Glowforge and other laser cutting machines.
Let's Get Krafting!
- 1. Download the Free SVG File (Instant Download): To find it, search our website for SVG Files > Free Laser Files.Here you will locate our free dishwasher file. Simply add the dishwasher magnet listing to your cart and proceed to checkout (at no cost to you). You will receive the download instantly!
- 2. Prepare Your Material: We recommend that you mask your selected material (⅛” wood or acrylic) in order to prevent burn marks. If you opted to paint prior to cutting/engraving, make sure it's completely dry before proceeding with masking!
- 3. Time to Laser! Upload the free dishwasher SVG file to your Glowforge software. Adjust the cutting/engraving settings based on your material chosen. The file will upload your design to a standard dishwasher magnet size. Feel free to resize to your liking! Be sure the steps are properly assigned to cut/engrave/score). Then hit print and let the machine do the work!
- 4. Attach the Magnet: Once your Glowforge finishes the work, use a strong adhesive to attach a small magnet to the back of your creation.
